Council Wants Traditional Markets to Be Jakarta Icons

Jakarta Council's Regional Regulation Forming Agency (Bapemperda) wants traditional markets managed by PD. Pasar Jaya to be Jakarta icons.

Now we need to think how PD. Pasar Jaya could brings these markets to become Jakarta icons

This is conveyed after Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) about Perumda Pasar Jaya is officially ratified as Perda.

Council Ratifies Four Raperda

"Now we need to think how PD. Pasar Jaya could brings these markets to become Jakarta icons," mentioned Merry Hotma, Jakarta Council's Bapemperda Deputy Head, Monday (4/16).

She explained, Perda that related to Perumda Pasar Jaya is generally regulated about company management scope from its local company status into Perumda. It means current Pasar Jaya has wider authority and able to implement modern market management within traditional market.

"Modern market will be one of TOD development programs. This is the most important thing for Jakarta," she stated.

According to her, BUMDs in developed countries in the world have been succeed in doing the similar things. Such as markets in Thailand and Korea which are succeed to be the capital icons.

"Actually we have a good potentials. Such as ethnic market in Jatinegara, Batik Central in Thamrin City and Tanah Abang," she expressed.
